|TMIS – Happy Moon Festival| We had wonderful first two weeks in school! We got familiar with the classroom, teachers and classmates, did various works, and learned the origin and meaning of Moon Festival. The teacher told us the amazing story of the Moon Festival including Yi Shot Down the Suns and Chang E Flying To The Moon. We made art works about topics related to the Moon Festival such as pomelo and rabbits. Looking forward to sharing with our parents! |TMIS – Our Mission| Our Mission: inherit the spirit of “love” in Montessori school. Love the earth and the universe. Magnify love to the greatest! Actions bring about changes~ Today, every staff member of Ms. Lam School, including three care centers, four kindergartens, and TMIS gathered together to understand our universal mission: It is our great privilege to invite Ms. Huang, the director of Green Peace, to introduce the threats of climate change and ways to respond. Ms. Lam illustrated Our Mission with the brand new gorgeous wall of Xin Sheng: Spread love — including the “natural love” such as parents’ love toward their children and the “effortful love” such as human’s love for protecting our earth. |TMIS – Prepare For School| After finishing the past briliant semester, the teachers continued to prepare for the brand new semester! We thoroughly sanitized every teaching aids, toys, and sleeping pads, bought and made new teching aids and books, greeted the parents who were still enjoying their summer time via phone calls, held meetings to discuss the plans and activities for the new semester, attended teacher trainings. The teachers had a truly meaningful summer! All of the efforts were for preparing the most complete and clean enviornment to welcome the children. |TMIS – Summer Program Week 5| How do we adapt to non-Montesorri elementary school after we graduate from kindergarten? Don’t worry, we have the summer program to help our transition! We gradually got familiar with seats in rows and learned to see the clocks, write Chinese characters and English letters, and used the dictionary. The jumping balls and balling balls in PE class trained our reaction, balance, and coordination. How fun! In life class, we used knives to dice the apples and added in apple juice and Gelatine to make cool, fresh, healthy, and tasty jelly! #tmis #mslamschool
|TMIS – Summer Program Week 4| Let us see what the graduates from kindergarten who are going to join the big family of TMIS are doing in the summer program! The topic of this week is the vast solar system. We learned the names, orders, sizes, structures, and features of the seven planets and English vocabulary including astronaut, galaxy, asteroid, and universe. We even made colorful planets and did gravity experiments. In Chinese class, we learned the interesting characters with the radical “rih” and the upper and lower parts of Chinese characters. We also tried tongue twisters. Chinese is so fun! #tmis #mslamschool
|TMIS – Summer Program Week 3| In week 3, TMIS is welcoming the freshmen who just graduated from kindergarten! What did we do in the first week of elementary school? We had various amazing classes: in life class, we learned how to cross the road safely; in English class, we learned the names of shapes; in PE class, we learned baseball; in music class, we played beautiful rhythms with Bongos; in math class, we did interesting questions, in Chinese class, we learned the origin of Chinese characters; in art class, we learned Gaudi’s works. |TMIS – Summer Program Week 2| In week 2, we studied energetic South America! We learned about the national flags in South America and famous sites such as the Jesus statue and Machu Picchu. Our reports had more details this week. In the cooking class this week, we had a greater challenge: cutting ingredients and kneading and rolling dough to make tasty pizza! Everyone is improving a lot in the basketball and chess class! In drama class, we practiced greeting with various voices and postures of different characters, including the stiff robots, the babbling toddlers, and the terrifying monsters. We even came up with short stories and train our expression skills and creativity. We also used light clay to make
