TMIS Philosophy

  • I have a dream. My mission in life is TO PURSUE my Dream.
  • I learn by being taught. By doing, I UNDERSTAND.
  • I LOVE and RESPECT myself and others.
  • Adults guide me to be a better person. Only I COULD STRIVE to be the BEST.
  • I improve and become better as I WORK on a task Persistently.
  • I AM DETERMINED to turn around obstacles and make changes.
  • Knowledge is power. Experiences are energy. Creativity IS THE OWNERSHIP of both.
  • I HAVE LEARNED problem solving is a challenge through trial and error.
  • I AM RESPONSIBLE to my total well being; Mind and Body.
  • I start my day with a Plan. Every plan I made, I set a time and always KEEP Priority in mind.
  • Anger or at peace, sadness or joyfulness, discouraged or encouraged, fear or fearless are feelings by choice. I HAVE a choice over my emotions.
  • I SHALL CONTRIBUTE to make our world a better place to live in.

TMIS GOAL

“It is the ability to think critically, to listen, to evaluate facts, to reason analytically, to imagine creatively, to alternative viewpoints, to maintain intellectual curiosity and to speak and write persuasively. If we add to that a reasonable familiarity with the treasures of history, literature, theatre, music, dance and art that previous civilizations have delivered, we are getting close to the meaning of educated.” - Steve Denning

6-12 COSMIC EDUCATION

It is the idea of Dr. Maria Montessori to give the elementary school-aged children a vision of the whole universe. The universe encompasses everything in existence and answers to all the questions, serving to satisfy the endless curiosity and energy of children in this age group.

TMIS offers multipurpose spaces for student club and leisure time activities.

Children at TMIS enjoy a variety of club activities, including fencing, Capoeira play (aka war dance) and ball games. Our children love to run and jump and play outdoors in the spacious sports filed of Minzu Elementary School, a space this neighboring partner of TMIS’s experimental education shares with us thanks to the idea of sharing community resources for learning. They also take part in daily physical exercise in our indoor space regardless of the weather.

The moment you step in a classroom at TMIS, you can feel the brightly lid and spacious space and see neatly laid-out materials, equipments for scientific experiments, and children-size tables and chairs that support the growth at different ages. Children feel at ease for discussions in this space as they are encouraged to exercise they agency and make choices, to work with others and to expand their interests in knowledge in their participation of fun learning experiences.

TMIS administration and general affairs operate at one end of a 3-meter-wide lane, which runs to the TMIS classrooms at the other. The office is located away from the classrooms to help support children while they keep their mind focused for their learning. It accommodates for rooms where teachers and parents can use to share information and exchange thoughts for optimal communication.

    Self-Learning

Learning takes place not only at schools.

No classroom is ever enough to answer all the questions asked by the children in their learning. Neither can the whole truth be revealed to them just by reading some books. The children need to go out, to perceive the world sensorially and allow the world to have impacts on them in order for them to experience sparks of wisdom on their own.

Here are green tree tunnels to keep away the scorching sun and the hustle and bustle of city life. Both Minzu Elementary School and a branch of municipal library are in the immediate vicinity. The community values education. Its 25 parks and diverse art galleries inspire children to explore the nature and yearn for aesthetics. Our children also gain diversified experiences at institutions such as La France à Taiwan, Taipei Songshan Airtport and Institute for Information Industry, which together play a key role in providing a variety of learning resources.
