【About Being Observed】

When I was observing the class in other schools, the students often felt stressed. It did not matter if they expressed it evidently nor if we watch them very closely. However, the children here are used to being observed. Perhaps it is the observer who feels uneasy, just like me when I first entered the class.

Looking back on myself and pondering why I was not comfortable with being observed in the past, I find out that the reason is probably “the fear of making mistakes”. When everything you do is inspected, your mistakes and rooms for improvement often appear. Therefore, you will be afraid to be examined. You do not want to see more signs of “I am not good enough”.

The teacher mentioned that mistakes are allowed in “the well-prepared mental environment” in the workshop for Monterrosi middle school held by AMI. “If you do not know what is right, then make mistakes.” You will not feel ashamed even if you do it wrong. Even if there is something you can improve, you will not think that it is because you are not good enough. In such a situation, there is no need to feel stressed when you are observed and inspected.
